Fire Brigade Watchtower

ul. Westerplatte 19, Kraków

The watchtower was built for the State Fire Service in the years 1877-1879, based on an innovative design drawn up by Maciej Moraczewski.

It assumed that the single complex would house barrack-rooms for officers and firefighters, garages for horse-drawn pumps and vehicles, a fire emergency unit and an alarm telegraph, hose-drying halls, workshops and a gymnasium.

The entire complex has been preserved to this day in an almost unaltered state, with the main building made of red brick and three symmetrically placed gates.
