Krakus Mound

Kopiec Krakusa, Kraków

Prince Krakus was the legendary founder of Kraków. After his death, his subjects, grateful for his just rule, raised him a grave in the form of a mound.

Thus quoth the legend. In reality, the whole "mound business" is much more mysterious. All we know is that the mound is 16 metres tall and that it is located on the right bank of the Vistula, on a hill in Krzemionki. We are not sure, however, when and who created the mound.
