Hebrew Schools

ul. Brzozowa 5, Kraków

A complex of three-and four-storey buildings erected in the 1920s and 1930s. The plaque on the outside reads in Hebrew and Polish that the primary (ul. Brzozowa) and secondary (ul. Podbrzezie) schools of the Jewish Society for Primary and Secondary Schools were located here.

In the secondary school, general subjects were taught in Polish and Judaic ones in Hebrew. A high level of education was assured by excellent teaching staff who included the mathematician and headmaster Hirsz Szerer; teacher of Polish, poet, and translator of French and German literature Juliusz Feldhorn; teacher of Polish and writer Chaim Löw; naturalist and Associate Professor of the Jagiellonian University Joachim Metallman; and the Hebrew teacher who lectured the language at the Jagiellonian University Bencjon Katz.

Today the buildings host a vocational school complex.
