St Giles’ Church

ul. Grodzka 67, 31-001 Kraków

The small church is situated at the foot of Wawel Hill in Grodzka street, and it was built in the Gothic style in the first half of the 14th century, and rebuilt towards the end of the 16th century. It is single-aisle church with rich, mostly Baroque, furnishing. It has been used by the Dominican Order since the late 16th century, which is why the tomb of St Jacek (Hyacinthus) was transferred here from the Dominican Church of the Holy Trinity. Attention is drawn to the late Gothic representation of the Crucifixion: the crucifix with the figures of Mother of God and St John standing on the rood beam. In 1990, the Katyń Cross was set up outside the church, by its wall.
