XII Gyalwang Drukpa visits Kraków

The Head of the Drukpa Lineage – one of the most influential schools of Vajrayana Buddhism visited Poland to address the international community gathered at the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Katowice. It was the first visit of the Gyalwang Drukpa to Kraków. The atmosphere at a courtesy meeting with Mayor Jacek Majchrowski on December 5th, 2018 was very cordial and and relaxed.

Kraków becomes the first European Capital of Gastronomic Culture 2019

In January 2018 the European Gastronomic Academy awarded Kraków the title of the European Capital of Gastronomy Culture 2019. The decision was announced at a press conference held at the Kraków City Hall on 28 June 2018.

On 27 June 2018 the US Consul General in Krakow Walter Braunohler paid a goodbye visit to Mayor Jacek Majchrowski. For the past three years Walter Braunohler represented the USA in southern Poland as Consul General.
Creations of Edinburgh-Krakow partnership

Lord Provost of Edinburgh Frank Ross visited Krakow between 11th and 14th June to participate in the XII Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Rt. Hon. Frank Ross took part in the Mayor’s Forum where creative tools have been discussed to solve the most significant problems related to the city development.

Polish and European librarians visit Kraków

250 people, representatives of several dozen libraries all over Poland, including many from Kraków and Małopolska region but also from abroad, participated in an international conference "Library at a Turning Point" on Friday 19 January. The event was organised in the ICE Kraków Convention Centre by Kraków Library together with Kraków Municipality.
Krakow receives its very own tartan

On Sunday, 1 October Frank Ross Lord Provost of Edinburgh officially presented the tartan to Krakow’s Mayor Jacek Majchrowski. The tartan was weaved in Dalgleish - one of Scotland’s last traditional tartan mills.
Budapest is Kraków's twin city!

5 June 2017 has become another important date in the history of Kraków's cooperation with the Hungarian capital. On that day Mayor of Kraków Jacek Majchrowski and Lord Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós signed a twin cities cooperation agreement. The cities' relationship was based on a partnership agreement signed in 2005.
