Green Connects – Irish Minister Visiting Krakow
On Wednesday, 13th March, Krakow was visited by Mr.Kevin Moran, the Minister whose responsibilities in the Government of the Republic of Ireland involve public works, flood relief and heritage sites. One of the main points of Minister Moran`s stay in our City was a study visit to Zabłocie.
Fallen Canadian pilots honoured in Kraków
In August 1944 Allied forces flew from Italy to drop supplies over Warsaw to help in the Warsaw Uprising. Many were shot down over Poland including, among others, Polish and Canadian pilots. 15 Canadian and 22 Polish pilots are buried at the Rakowicki Cemetery in Kraków.
OWHC Board of Directors meeting was held in Krakow
The Board of Directors of the Organisation of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) convened in Krakow between May 30 and June 2. Andrzej Kulig, Deputy Mayor of Krakow for Social Policy, Culture and City Promotion, welcomed the international visitors on behalf of the city authorities at an event held in the Underground Museum. OWHC meetings were held on May 31 and June 1 at the Krakow City Hall.
Košice – European Capital of Culture 2013
Košice in Slovakia and Marseille in France were awarded the prestigious title of the 2013 European Capital of Culture. The celebrations in Košcice opened with a bang on January 19th and 20th, with 180 events and attractions. Krakow was officially represented by Vice Mayor for Culture Magdalena Sroka.
Deputy Chief of US Mission visits Krakow
Douglas C. Greene, who was recently nominated as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw visited the office Mayor Jacek Majchrowski on 12 August this year.
Innsbruck: Middle Ages - the Golden Age
Ornate arbours and romantic arcade aisles – typical decorations of Gothic and Baroque façades – can be seen along Herzog-Friedrich-Straße, the main street of Innsbruck. This street will lead us to the building which is considered to be the city's showcase, commonly known as the Golden Roof.
Orléans' Deputy Mayor Visits Krakow
Marie-Thérèse Pilet-Duchâteau, Deputy Mayor of Orléans, visited the Municipality of Krakow on 28 September. The main purpose for the visit was to discuss the celebration of the upcoming 20th anniversary of the cities' partnership.
