Frescos of Hans Dürer in the Wawel chambers, privileges given to the Nuremberg merchants by King Casimir III the Great, names of outstanding Italian artists and German craftsmen remind us of the extraordinary and rich tradition of vast international, historically grounded contacts of the City of Krakow and the benefits derived from them.
Today - as centuries ago - Krakow remains an open city. Well-developed, honest cooperation with a range of foreign partners benefits the city's promotion, cultural development and economic stimulation. It results in the intensification of tourism and facilitates the obtaining of European Union funds in the framework of international programmes.
Its historical heritage, as well as creative, scientific and commercial potential make Krakow an attractive partner for many - not only European - cities. They include the world's most beautiful cities and the greatest European metropolises.
Jacek Majchrowski
Mayor of the City of Krakow
