Kraków’s efforts to improve air quality have received international recognition. The city has been selected as a case study by the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), a leading Brussels-based think tank specialising in environmental and sustainability policies.

On 27 May, Kraków became Poland’s culinary capital as the host city of the first-ever nationwide Michelin Guide selection for Poland. During a gala ceremony held at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, the list of restaurants awarded Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmand distinctions and Michelin Guide recommendations for 2026 was officially announced.

During the meeting, discussions focused on opportunities for joint information and educational initiatives addressed to visitors to Kraków.

On 27 May Kraków hosted a gala organised to mark the first-ever nationwide selection of the prestigious Michelin Guide in Poland which was a landmark moment for Polish gastronomy and an important step in further strengthening Kraków’s position as a leading culinary tourism destination in Europe.

On Monday, 18 May, the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Poland, H.E. Raimonds Jansons, visited Kraków City Hall and met with Deputy Mayor of Kraków Łukasz Sęk. It was the Ambassador’s first official visit to our city since assuming his diplomatic post in Poland in September 2025.

Original creative vision, relevance to the competition theme, harmony with the surrounding environment, as well as social, artistic, and aesthetic value are among the key criteria to be assessed in two international competitions for new murals in Kraków. Kraków invites in public space artists to join the initiative. Project submissions are open until May 27.

The Mayor of Kraków has announced that nominations for the title of 'Krakow Ambassador of Multiculturalism A.D. 2025' will be accepted from 6 May to 15 June this year. The aim of the competition is to recognise individuals, non-governmental organisations, institutions, companies and informal groups that work to promote intercultural dialogue in Kraków.

On 16 April, a seminar entitled ‘Digging into History: Metro Systems in UNESCO Cities’ was held at the Krzysztofory Palace in Kraków, focusing on the challenges associated with the development of transport infrastructure in cities with exceptional cultural heritage.

Graduates who are well prepared to enter the labor market are a key measure of the effectiveness of education. This is supported by strong, lasting mechanisms of cooperation between educational institutions and the business sector. Kraków plans to strengthen and build such mechanisms together with business organizations—ASPIRE, ABSL, and AmCham—to ensure a smooth transfer of knowledge, experience, and best practices.

On 10 April 2026 the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Poland, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, paid his first official visit since the beginning of his diplomatic mission in our country. He presented his credence letter to the President of the Republic of Poland on 27 March, thereby opening a new chapter in Polish–Thai relations.

On Sunday, 26 April 2026, at 2:00 PM, a special organ concert titled “Totus Tuus” will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, honoring Saint John Paul II.

Since 2002, the Visegrad Summer School has become a unique cultural and educational programme catering for students, graduates, young researchers and professionals from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, as well as other Central and Eastern European countries. Given its international, macro-regional, and regional dimensions, the initiative proved successful in promoting a positive image of the region on an international scale, alongside the promotion of the intellectual and cultural heritage of the Visegrad Group and other European countries.
