August 24 - the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR in 1991 - is celebrated as Ukraine’s Independence Day. The 30th anniversary of this event was celebrated in Kraków by lighting up the Bernatek Footbridge (Kładka Bernatka) in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

City Helpers on the streets of Kraków

In July and August City Helpers will appear on the streets of Kraków to assist tourists and everyone else visiting. Their task will be not only to provide information and promote local events, but also to catch inappropriate behavior in the Old Town Cultural Park and Kazimierz. And all this in the spirit of responsible, sustainable tourism, which is determined, among others, by harmonious coexistence of visitors and residents.

 

Sub Una Campana - 500th anniversary of the Sigismund Bell

Weighing in at 12,600 kg, with 450 cm of total height including yoke and clapper, producing the sound F-sharp in the Great Octave, audibility up to 30 km, powered by the strength of 12 bell-ringers - this is the Sigismund Bell which celebrates its 500th anniversary this year. On this occasion the City of Kraków together with Wawel Royal Castle, Wawel Cathedral and the Nuremberg House in Kraków organised celebrations under the motto Sub una campana/Under One Bell.

The unique heritage, the cultural offer of the summer season, the urban greenery, the countless legends or the local cuisine - the tourist values of the capital of Małopolska are presented by the nationwide promotional campaign "And what do YOU see in Kraków?". The project prepared by the Municipality of Kraków in cooperation with the Małopolska Tourist Organisation was launched on 1st June 2021 and will continue until 30th September 2021.

 

KraCamera 2021

On May 29-31, 2021, the first edition of the International Chamber Music Competition - "KraCamera 2021" took place in Krakow. The competition was organized by the "W Świecie Muzyki" Foundation, based in Krakow. The competition was international in scope and was intended for students of 1st and 2nd degree music schools and students of music academies under 30 years of age.

Rebuilding inbound tourism will also be possible through closer cooperation between the cultural and tourism sectors. We present a set of tools to support the integration of Kraków’s marketing communication, cultural promotion and cultural diplomacy.
