WIZZ AIR ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF A NEW BASE IN KRAKOW

2 NEW AIRCRAFT AND 12 NEW ROUTES IN 2019

On November 21st, Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe, announced the opening in Krakow of its 26th base. The carrier will place 2 Airbus A321 aircrafts at Krakow airport, the first in May and the second in September 2019. From April next year, Wizz Air will be launching twelve new routes to nine countries. Tickets for new connections can now be booked on wizzair.com or via the WIZZ mobile application with prices starting from PLN 39*.

Krakow will be Wizz Air’s 26th Wizz Air base and the newest one in Poland, following Warsaw, Katowice, Gdansk and Wroclaw. As part of the development, the line will expand its network of connections from Poland. The base in Krakow is an investment worth 240 million dollars** and should create 80 new jobs directly in the line and over 140 in related industries***. Two new Airbus A321 aircrafts will support operations on twelve new routes to: London, Kiev, Nice, Turku, Doncaster, Bari, Billund, Catania, Larnaca, Kharkiv, Oslo and Kutaisi.

Wizz Air will be launching the recruitment of a young and ambitious crew to the new base in January. The meetings will be held on the 7th, 17th  and 26th of January 2019 in Krakow. More information: https://wizzair.com/pl-pl/informacje-i-uslugi/career/cabin-crew-flight-attendant/#/

During a press conference in Balice, Stephen Jones, the executive vice president and deputy president at Wizz Air, said: - Today's event highlights our commitment to operations in Poland, our first market where we started operations in 2004. We chose Krakow because we see the need to travel in the Malopolska Region. At the same time, we see the potential of Krakow's popularity both as a tourist destination and dynamic city development in the context of a business center. Our latest base will be opened on May 1, 2019 and will employ 80 people directly at Wizz Air. The offer of flights from Krakow includes 12 new, attractive destinations. We are convinced that our Polish customers will appreciate our convenient flight schedule, friendly and easy online booking system on the wizzair.com website and a wide range of "tailor made" travel possibilities to best meet the expectations of our passengers. Our development in Poland has a positive impact on the development of the tourism and hotel industry in the country.

Radosław Włoszek, the President of the Krakow Airport Management Board, added:

- The Malopolska Region attracts many investors, also in the aviation sector - the proof of this is the launch of another carrier base at Krakow Airport. The Wizz Air offer is the result of multifaceted negotiations, a consistently implemented strategy for the development of a diversified network of connections at the Krakow airport. We hope that it will be interesting for passengers and will have a positive impact on the local labor market. Of the 12 destinations offered by Wizz Air, as many as 10 are new at the Krakow airport. The direct connection to Georgia expected by our passengers or flights to Nice in France, Catania and Bari in Italy and Larnaca in Cyprus are just a few of them. The new connections will also be of interest to the Malopolska Region’s residents who also choose to have organized holidays. Wizz Air's cooperation with tour operators and travel agencies also strengthens this offer of the Krakow Airport.

As of today, WIZZ is currently offering 188,000 seats on 12 routes from Krakow, and a total of over 11 million seats on 165 routes in the Polish connection network in 2019, constantly creating further opportunities for customers traveling to and from Poland while maintaining low prices and providing excellent experience related to traveling.

WIZZ offers a range of innovative products and services that allow passengers to get the most out of their travel, all via the easy-to-use Wizz Air application or website. The latest introduced services include the Flexible Travel Companion, allowing to make a new booking without need to provide all passengers' names at the moment of making a reservation or Fare Lock - a guarantee of the best price of the selected flight for a period of 48 hours.
