Edinburgh welcomes rising star of literature from Krakow
Following a highly competitive open call, Ahsan Ridha Hassan from Krakow has been chosen in July 2018 to spend November developing his work in the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature.
The Hoover Project is launched
As part of the “Sto Lat Razem” campaign, which celebrates 100 years of Poland`s independence and Polish-American relations, the City of Krakow together with the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow, the American Chamber of Commerce and in cooperation with partner institutions is pleased to announce the ”Honoring Hoover” project.
Welcome visit by the U.S. Consul General B. Bix Aliu
On August 24 Mayor of Kraków Jacek Majchrowski welcomed in his office Mr. B. Bix Aliu, the new U.S. Consul General in Kraków.
Kraków becomes the first European Capital of Gastronomic Culture 2019
In January 2018 the European Gastronomic Academy awarded Kraków the title of the European Capital of Gastronomy Culture 2019. The decision was announced at a press conference held at the Kraków City Hall on 28 June 2018.
Creations of Edinburgh-Krakow partnership
Lord Provost of Edinburgh Frank Ross visited Krakow between 11th and 14th June to participate in the XII Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Rt. Hon. Frank Ross took part in the Mayor’s Forum where creative tools have been discussed to solve the most significant problems related to the city development.
Farewell visit by US Consul General Walter Braunohler
On 27 June 2018 the US Consul General in Krakow Walter Braunohler paid a goodbye visit to Mayor Jacek Majchrowski. For the past three years Walter Braunohler represented the USA in southern Poland as Consul General.
HISTORICAL CITIES 3.0
Exchange of experience and good practices implemented in historical cities, solutions for the development of tourism were some of the issues discussed during the first edition of Historical Cites 3.0 conference held on 1-2 March at the ICE Krakow Convention Centre.
UK Ambassador to Poland drives the tartan tram
On Monday 22 January British Ambassador to Poland Jonathan Knott visited a tram service station in Podgórze to see the tram decorated with Scottish tartan designed for Kraków. The ambassador himself requested to visit one of Kraków tram depots and was eager not only to take a photo against this special vehicle but also to have a go at driving it.
New Zealand Ambassador visits Krakow
On 29 January 2018 New Zealand Ambassador to Poland Mary Thurston met with Krakow Mayor Jacek Majchrowski on her first official visit in our city. Mary Thurston first came to Krakow last summer to study Polish for two months.
Polish and European librarians visit Kraków
250 people, representatives of several dozen libraries all over Poland, including many from Kraków and Małopolska region but also from abroad, participated in an international conference "Library at a Turning Point" on Friday 19 January. The event was organised in the ICE Kraków Convention Centre by Kraków Library together with Kraków Municipality.
