Vienna in the face of CoViD-19

Like most European cities at this unique time, Vienna is also taking steps to contain the spread of coronavirus. Freedom of movement in public spaces has been severely restricted since 13 April. All residents are urged to stay in their homes and avoid any unnecessary travel.

Public transport and short-term parking zones

Trams, busses and the “Wiener Linien” metro run according to the holiday schedule, which means regularly but with longer intervals. The night underground lines have been cancelled on the weekends and night busses can be taken instead. Starting from February 17th short-term parking zones are suspended, while garages offer cheaper rates.

In addition to the necessary security measures, the city of Vienna has prepared a virtual compilation of its favourite experiences, including Vienna’s cuisine famous for its hearty dishes and a variety of sweets and cakes. Access to these recipes will allow you to get creatively closer to Vienna at a time when a real journey is impossible.
