Innovative parking policy audit tool ParkPAD has been designed in the frame of the EU Park4SUMP project.
The main objective of this project is to improve the integration of urban parking policies with the urban transport policies and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans SUMP in pursuit of making urban transport system more sustainable. Within the frame of the Park4SUMP project, Kraków held a ParkPAD urban transport policy audit, being the second city in Poland (after Gdańsk) to obtain a certificate confirming the conclusion of this innovative process. The auditors underlined that Kraków has an advanced parking policy including all the desired aspects from smart paid parking zones, and the plan for their further development, to the classic „push & pull” approach which means that the revenue generated by the paid parking zones is used to finance the realization and promotion of sustainable forms of urban transport. The ParkPAD tool is the first so systematic approach to the parking issue in European cities. Kraków is one of the 16 partners taking part in the Park 4SUMP project undertaken within the frame of HORIZON 2020 programme financed by the European Commission.
