The spectacular architecture of the ever-youthful city, the famous Golden Gate, the gold rush, Al Capone, rock n′ roll... San Francisco, California′s fourth and USA′s thirteenth most populated city, is a melting pot brimming with America′s evergreen myths. Situated on the Pacific coast, in the San Francisco Bay, the Paris of the West maintains its exceptional nostalgic and bohemian ambience which eared it the nickname. The city of Saint Francis was established in 1776 and granted city rights a century later, in 1850. Today, the agglomeration, with a population of 7 million, is one of USA′s chief commercial harbours, an important communication hub and a banking and financial centre (the city hosts Bank of Amercia′s HQ) famous also for its industry, technology, science, education and culture.
