Transportation

Krakow's advantage is its favourable geographical location – at the crossroads of important transport routes and close to the Silesian conurbation and the southern border of the country. The city is one of the key road, railway and aviation junctions in Poland. The International Airport in Balice is the second airport in terms of size and number of passengers in the country of international importance, and the largest airport in Southern Poland. Through Krakow or its surroundings lead two major routes: national road No. 7 from north to south, part of the European route E77, and the A4 motorway, part of the European route E40, which provides quick and convenient connections with Silesia, Germany, and Ukraine. Krakow has convenient railway connections with Warsaw and Gdansk; is also near to other major cities in this part of Europe, such as Prague, Budapest and Vienna.
