The Hoover Gala event is over - thank you to all the donors!

On October 14th, the traditional Hoover Gala was held to thank the Kraków business community for its involvement in the Hoover Table campaign. The gala, organized by the U.S. Consulate in Kraków and the Kraków City Hall, took place at the Emil Fieldorf "Nil" National Army Museum in Kraków.

Similarly to previous years, all donors were presented with statuettes. This year the ceremony was accompanied by a concert of Stan Breckenridge - American singer, pianist, composer, academic teacher, doctor of musicology and Amicus Poloniae award winner. He performs jazz, blues, rhythm & blues and soul music all over the world. Stan performed with the Jazz Band Ball Orchestra.

- There are many charity campaigns organised but there are still too few projects that combine the forces of local governments, diplomacy, business circles and NGOs to raise funds for a noble cause. - said Mayor Jacek Majchrowski before handing the statuettes to the donors together with Consul General Patrick Slowinski.

This year's edition had to be adjusted to the pandemic and is held in a slightly different format. Group representations of foster care and education centres competed for the prize in the "If I were Herbert Hoover" contest. The children and youth, as well as their tutors, presented ideas which they would like to implement if they had Herbert Hoover's qualities - eager to help, recognizable and influential. The winning centres will owe their teams with new furnishings and ecquipment for shared educational and entertainment spaces.

A new element of this third edition is an auction in which one can bid for dinners for two at Sheraton Hotel and King Salomon Hotel restaurants. The auction is organized by the Pełni Kultury Foundation, which has thus joined the organizers of the Hoover Table campaign, among whom are already: U.S. Consulate in Kraków, the Municipality of Kraków, Miejski Ośrodek Pomocy Społecznej w Krakowie, the American Chamber of Commerce, Izba Przemysłowo-Handlowa and Polski Instytut Filantropii.
