International Tourist Guide Day 2021

International Tourist Guide Day has been celebrated for over 30 years. On this occasion, an online meeting will be held on 5 March at 5 p.m. to discuss important topics in the field of tourism and tour guiding.

International Tourist Guide Day falls on 21 February. Kraków City Hall, in cooperation with guides associations, has been organising special events on this occasion since 2005.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year’s Kraków Tourist Guide Day will be held in special conditions reflecting current public health concerns. For this reason, the organisers will be holding the gathering online, during which the following topics will be discussed:

Melania Tutak – assistant at the Kraków Museum – will give a talk on one of Podgórze’s honorary citizens, Wojciech Bednarski, a councillor of the city of Podgórze, social activist, educator and a founder of the municipal park

Elżbieta Kusina – president of the Guides Associations Federation – will outline the history of International Tourist Guide Day

Wojciech Zemek – a long-standing secretary of the writer, philosopher and visionary Stanisław Lem – will delve into the topic of Lem’s relationship with the city of Kraków

Ewa Polańska – a guide – will interview Elżbieta Kantor, Head of the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Kraków, on the following theme: “Kraków’s Sustainable Tourism Policy for the Years 2021–2028”, as well as on plans to revive tourist traffic in Kraków
