Krakow supports the creation of a new Marshall Plan for Europe

The Mayor of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski joined the mayors of European cities who signed a declaration of support for the initiative to create a new Marshall Plan for Europe in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, resulting economic difficulties and the climate crisis.

The need for a new Marshall Plan for Europe in the current situation has been raised by the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Coordinated action by the European Community to rebuild the economy after the losses caused by the coronavirus epidemic is a need experienced not only by European countries but also by local authorities. This is why Leoluca Orlando - Mayor of the Italian city of Palermo in Sicily and a member of the World Parliament of Mayors - took the initiative of lobbying the European Parliament for appropriate solutions. He proposed that the mayors of European metropolises sign a declaration to encourage integration and joint action in the face of the crisis. Joining the initiative is an important diplomatic gesture of solidarity. It is worth remembering that the idea of signing the declaration came from Italy, which is one of the countries most affected by the epidemic.
