Krakow Christmas markets awarded in the world

The Christmas Market on the Main Square has, for over a quarter of a century, permanently been inscribed in the landscape of pre-Christmas Krakow, enjoying the invariable success of Krakow's residents and tourists.

In this year's list of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the world, developed by CNN, Krakow was next to Vienna, New York and Brussels, in the honorable group of the best.

The ranking was prepared by CNN journalist Joe Minihane. He pointed to 17 Christmas markets from around the world. Lovers of the festive atmosphere should visit at least one of them. At the Christmas market in the Main Square, in his opinion, you can feel the magic of Christmas to the fullest. The capital of the Malopolska Region is famous for hand-painted ornaments and local sweets, and the uniqueness of the Krakow fair is provided by the purchase of unique antiques or slightly unusual although beautiful trinkets.

As part of this year's fair, sellers from all over Poland present their goods in about 100 commercial and gastronomic stalls. Foreign guests are also present - from Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary, who sell, among others meats, cheeses and sausages, bread, jewelry made of fabric and wood, flax and wool handicrafts, gifts, hand-made material and fragrance toys, ceramics, jewelry, etc. There were also stalls with grilled dishes, pierogi and soups at the fair. You can taste a slice of sourdough bread with lard, sausage, bacon, onion or pickle. One can also sample sweets and traditional mulled wine.

As every year, buyers offer a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations, such as: hand-painted ornaments, Christmas decorations, wreaths, stained glass, wax candles, nativity scenes, ceramic products, hay, straw, wood, wool, felt, artisan glass products, jewelry, souvenirs, postcards, calendars, wooden toys, wooden rollers, stuffed animals, leather goods, regional sheepskin coats, slippers, tablecloths, napkins. A smithy is set up, where smithery shows take place. There is also a stand where candle making demonstrations take place.
