Tadeusz Pankiewicz’s Pharmacy in Krakow Ghetto

Inauguration of the Permanent Exhibition ‘Tadeusz Pankiewicz’s Pharmacy in Kraków Ghetto’ at The Eagle Pharmacy (branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow) is the focal point in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the German liquidation of Krakow Ghetto which have been taken under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Bronisław Komorowski.

PROGRAMME


16 MARCH (SATURDAY)

7 p.m.-midnight

The inauguration of the permanent exhibition on Tadeusz Pankiewicz’s Pharmacy in Krakow Ghetto takes place in the Ghetto Heroes Square. The ceremony consists in speeches by the specially invited guests and a concert accompanied with a visualization thrown on the façade of the tenement house at 18 Ghetto Heroes Square, which houses The Eagle Pharmacy.

After the official part of the ceremony, there will be a sound and light show, inspired by the artistic output of Witold Chomicz.

All the guests and participants shall receive a token of remembrance – a photograph inspired by the history of Krakow Ghetto.

The photograph is also a one-person free ticket to the three branches of the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow which form the so-called Memory Trail (namely, to The Eagle Pharmacy, Pomorska Street, and Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory). The ticket shall be valid until 14 April 2013.

·  The Eagle Pharmacy (groups of twenty visitors enter every fifteen minutes; about eighty visitors per hour)
·  Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory – open till midnight; last entry: 10.30p.m.

The Kraków Ghetto Pharmacy – a sound and light show on the façade of the tenement house at 18 Ghetto Heroes SquareThe show is an imaginative response of computer graphic and animation artists to the artistic vision of the extermination of the Jewishcommunity of Kraków presented in the stained-glass windows designed by Witold Chomicz (the panels had ornamented the windows of The Eagle Pharmacy until 2003). The show shall be accompanied with a soundtrack of excerpts from Tadeusz Pankiewicz’s memoirs – The Kracow Ghetto Pharmacy – read by Krakow actors and corresponding in its message and content to the images thrown on the façade of the building.


17 MARCH (SUNDAY)

 

The most important single event of the day is the March of Remembrance, coordinated by the Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow Foundation
