MOVING AROUND KRAKOW

EURO 2012 – ORGANISATION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT.

 

Preliminary forecasts for the number of visitors and the fact of their rotating presence during EURO 2012 do not imply the need to introduce extensive changes in the organisation of public transport in Krakow.

As at this point there are no reliable data as to the expected number of participants, it is unfeasible to define the size of the possible required extension of the public transport offer.

 

PLANNED CHANGES in the organisation of public transport in Krakow during Euro 2012.

 

During the EURO 2012 championship, the following bus routes will be suspended: No 152, 502 and 522. The following bus routes will be launched in their place:

 

• route No E02, identical to route No 502, but serving all stops on the way;

• route No E52, route similar to route No 152, with modification in ul. Bora-Komorowskiego; in situations of increased demand for transport at the Balice Airport, the route will be directed from Olszanica to the Port Lotniczy (Airport) final stop.

• route No 532, route similar to route No 522, with modification in ul. Konopnickiej, al. Trzech Wieszczy, ul. Piłsudskiego and ul. Dobrego Pasterza;

• route No 304, alteration of route from Rondo Matecznego through ul. Piłsudskiego.

 

The above changes will be binding from 2 June until 1 July 2012.

 

TRANSPORT SERVICING OF BALICE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

 

The main means of public transport devoted to the servicing of the Balice International Airport and providing connections with Krakow are trains, and this means of transport is organised, as per its competences, by the Małopolskie Voivodeship Marshal’s Office and effected by PKP “Przewozy Regionalne” Sp. z o.o. The above connections run approximately every 30 minutes.

            List of main public transport routes serving Balice International Airport and connecting it to the Fun Kraków zone and the Main train station.

The above offer of complementary bus transport, devoted, together with agglomeration route No 208, to the servicing of the Balice International Airport (except for route No E52), will allow for the average frequency of operation at approximately 20 minutes, which – in combination with the operating train connection – constitutes the basic transport offer for this area.

 
TRANSPORT OFFER FOR INDIVIDUAL ROUTES.

Route: Balice International Airport – Main train station/ Fun Kraków

 

 – service provided by: route No 292 and optionally route No E52, on extended length (launched only in a situation of increased demand for transport).
 

Route: Fun Kraków – Main train station

 – service will be provided mainly by tram route No 15 and bus routes No E52 and E02 as well as route No 532, serving bust stop “Cracovia” and running through ul. Dobrego Pasterza.
- additional services will be provided by bus route No 159 operating from Cichy Kącik.

 

Route: Fun Kraków – Main train station/Suche Stawy Stadium

– service will be provided by tram route No 15.

Route: Wieliczka – Cracovia (serving the Italian team supporters)

 - route No 304 changed from Rondo Matecznego, and going through al. Trzech Wieszczy and Piłsudskiego.

PLANNED ENHANCEMENT of the public transport offer in situations of increased demand.

                                            

On game days:

• extending the operating hours of the routes serving the abovementioned facilities connected to Euro 2012 until 00:30

•  directing trams and buses of larger capacity to serve tram route No 15 and bus route No 292.

 

In situations of noted increased demand for transport:

•  extending route No E52 from Olszanica to the Airport.

•  enhancing the transport offer of the indicated routes serving the facilities connected to Euro 2012

 

In the case of opening of a Park & Ride car par in ul. Lema, servicing will be provided by tram route No 15.
