Church of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist

ul. Świętego Jana 7, 31-017 Kraków

Originally Romanesque, built in the first half of the 12th century, it was repeatedly rebuilt and extended, among others in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The Baroque façade features a painting of the Gracious Mother of God, while the interior contains preserved Romanesque (crypt under the chancel) and Gothic sections.

The main altar features a painting of Our Lady of Ransom of Slaves from the 16th century, and figures of St John the Evangelist and St John the Baptist (from the 18th century). Since the first half of the 18th century, the church has been used by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who have run a school for girls here. Adjacent to the nave is the chapel with the earthly remains of the founder of the congregation, Servant of God Zofia Czeska née Maciejowska.
