Horizon Ensemble is a group of chamber musicians, active since 2006. Chamber music is derived from the tradition of philharmonic chamber concerts featuring bowed string instruments, wind instruments and the piano. This tradition was initiated many years ago by the Amar Corde String Quartet and instrumentalists from the wind section of Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Kraków and the then director of this institution, Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa.
Since the group's formation, the Kraków audience had an opportunity to listen to rarely played chamber compositions by Schubert, Hummel, Brahms, Berwald, Martinů, Janáček, Nielsen, Prokofiev, Roussel, Milhaud, Françaix, Britten, Strawiński, Bacewicz, Arnold, Kancheli; some of those compositions were performed in Kraków, and even in Poland, for the first time.
