Big Band Cracovia
In 1998, a group of professional musicians in Kraków established a new entertainment and dance orchestra, which took up the name Big Band Cracovia in January 2001. The orchestra's repertoire is mainly based on the standards of swing and well-known light music hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s. During the concerts, the group also presents classical dance music from all over the world, tango, waltz and Latino music as well as unforgettable OST.
From the very beginning of its existence, the orchestra was led by two saxophonists: Ignacy Stojek – conductor, composer and teacher and (later) Przemysław Gwoździowski – well-known jazzman and the first music director of Czerwono-Czarni band.
The musicians presented their programme to a vast audience at numerous festivals (Summer Jazz Festival, Nowa Huta Spring Festival, ZUPA International Festival, All Souls' Day Cracovian Jazz Festival) and occasional concerts (International Conference of the Polish Ski Association in Wieliczka Salt Mine, 75th anniversary of the University of Physical Education in Krakow, an anniversary of KTO Theatre). Big Band Cracovia also performs at open-air events such as e.g. Summer Chamber Music Concerts at Dworek Białoprądnicki or promotion concerts in Kraków Plaza, Krakchemia and British Petroleum.
Big Band Cracovia concerts are a combination of virtuosity and elegance, humour and expression, and a great deal of fun!
Big Band Cracovia is artistically managed by Dworek Białoprądnicki Culture Centre.
