Beale Street Band
The traditional jazz ensemble was established in 1974 and soon obtained acclaim of jazz sympathisers and critics as a group that played good old jazz. Their repertoire contains original versions of jazz compositions, as well as music written for the purposes of musicals (Hallo, Dolly!), films (Cabaret, Ship of Fools).
The group participated in a music recording for the film Vabank II. It has released two albums. It received many prizes in jazz festivals in Europe, such as:
- the Gold Washboard at the International Festival of Traditional Jazz "Old Jazz Meeting - Złota Tarka" in Warsaw
- Dixieland Festival Dresden
- Swinging Hannover
- Jazz Festival Prague
- International Jazz Festival Gent.
The ensemble performed all around Europe on its numerous tours. It plays traditional blues, the first fox trot, "Alexander's Ragtime Band", marches which used to be performed by Creole buglers, swinging ragtime and classic Rock'n'Roll.
Beale Street Band concerts are performed in Kraków jazz clubs.
