Teatr Figur Kraków
The performances of the theatre can be viewed each Saturday at 4 PM at Wrzos cinema and theatre in Podgórze.
Teatr Figur in Kraków was established in January 2007 on the initiative of Paideia foundation. The Greek word paideia means conscious upbringing through education and culture, with reference to the universal and timeless ideal of man. The foundation is based on a notion that education and culture facilitate thinking, creation and action. The goals of the foundation are achieved through two main projects: The Children's University and Teatr Figur in Kraków.
Teatr Figur in Kraków is a unique suggestion for the young viewer. We are a modern puppetry, which attracts both children and the adults who accompany them. The actors working at the TFK come from all parts of the world, and they have various educational backgrounds and numerous passions and ideas. The result of their meeting is the theatre's repertoire addressed to children aged 3 to 14. Nearly all performances addressed to school kids are adaptations of books from the school canon. At the same time, there are no performances that will satisfy children, young people and adults all at once. Hence, the TFK's offer is completely innovative.
With schools in mind, we have prepared a special repertoire for classes and teachers, which complements cultural education: Three steps to the theatre. Teachers are invited to a series of workshops carried out by actors from the TFK and lecturers from the Jagiellonian University, where participants learn how to interpret theatrical performances and contemporary theatre, and how to be creative. The educational activity of the theatre includes its cooperation with the Children’s University and the Malopolska Institute of Culture.
