MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow
The Museum of Modern Art in Kraków was opened in 2011.
The museum is located in the old halls of the Schindler's Factory, known in the whole world. The exhibition activity of MOCAK mostly revolves around the art of the last two decades. The permanent collection of the museum includes works of artists from all over the world. The artists whose works are included in the collection are: AES+F, Tomasz Bajer, Edward Dwurnik, Krištof Kintera, Ragnar Kjartansson, Jarosław Kozłowski, Robert Kuśmirowski, Lars Laumann, Bartek Materka, Maria Stangret, Beat Streuli, Krzysztof Wodiczko.
The exhibition is located on level -1 and the temporaryexhibitions can be found on level 2. The smaller building Bcontains a gallery with individual temporary exhibitions anddisplays presenting design, sound and text. The premises of the museum include: a library, bookshop, a café and a conservation workshop of modern art.
The edifice of the museum, designed by an Italian architect, Claudio Nardi, refers to the neo-modern architectural movement; the exhibition space, divided into several sections, takes up over 4,000 square metres and the surface of the whole building exceeds 10,000 m².
