House at number 10 Tyniecka Street

ul. Tyniecka 10, Kraków

Karol Wojtyła and his father lived at 10 Tyniecka Street after moving to Kraków in 1938.

The house belonged to his uncle, Robert Kaczorowski. The father and son took up two small rooms on the ground floor. While living in Dębniki he met a future priest and writer, Mieczysław Maliński, who also lived here.

It was here that Wojtyła found the dead body of his father who died of a heart attack after returning home from work on the 18th February 1941. He lived on Tyniecka Street on and off until 1944.
