The school was a complex of three- and four-storey buildings, erected in the years 1918, 1924 and 1931. The corner buttress of the complex features plaques with Hebrew and Polish inscriptions, reminding passers-by that it used to be an elementary school (no. 5 Brzozowa Street) and Chaim Hilfstein Hebrew Lower Secondary School (no. 8/10 Podbrzezie Street) of the Society of Jewish Secondary Schools in Kraków.

The school taught general subjects in Polish, and Judaic subjects in Hebrew. The high quality of education was ensured by excellent teachers, such as: Hirsz Szerer, mathematician and the school’s principal; Juliusz Feldhorn, a Polish teacher, poet and translator of French and German literature; Chaim Löw, a Polish teacher and writer; Joachim Metallman, a scientist, associate professor at the Jagiellonian University; Bencjon Katz, Hebraist and Hebrew teacher at the Jagiellonian University.
