The Cracow Saltworks Museum in Wieliczka is one of the largest mining museums in Europe.

It contains two permanent exhibitions: The first one is an underground exhibition on the 3rd level of the Wieloczka Salt Mine, situated in 17 original chambers (19th and 20th centuries), in a site entered on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage List by UNESCO in 1978 (around 2.5 thousand original and unique monuments are presented over the surface of 8 thousand square metres).

The second exhibition is located in the mediaeval Żupny Castle, the seat of the Wieliczka and Bochnia Salt Mine from the end of the 13th century until 1945 and the only such site in Poland.
