"Suspension" is BEE AND FLOWER'S most focused and direct recording to date. The album redefines the band's twisted-yet-catchy melodies, heartbreaking swoons, and fierce dark landscapes to glittering effect. Recorded in Berlin and Brooklyn, "Suspension" marks a return to a more 'band' feel, featuring original members Dana Schechter (vocs, bass), Roderick Miller (keyboards), the return of Lynn Wright (guitar) and Jon Petrow (violin), as well as Berlin-based members Jonathan Heine (guitar) and Thomas Fietz (drums).
Special guests on "Suspension" include Martin Wenk (Calexico), Paul Watson (Sparklehorse), Danny Tunick (Barbez), Toby Dammit (Swans, Iggy Pop), and string arrangement by J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus, Kronos Quartet). Band members' other involvements include Angels of Light, American Music Club, Keren Ann, Martin Gallop, And the Wiremen, Frank the Baptist, Cloud Room, Botanica, and more.
Bee and Flower now lives and works in both Berlin and NYC, and was founded in New York City in 2000 by singer-songwriter, bassist, and animator Dana Schechter. Dana formed the band with original members Roderick Miller, Lynn Wright, Jon Petrow, and Ani Cordero while a recording/touring member of Michael Gira's (Swans, Young God Records) band Angels of Light. "What's Mine Is Yours" (2003, Neurot Recordings) features the original NYC lineup. The core group (Schechter, Miller, and producer Toby Dammit) moved to Berlin in 2004 to begin work on "Last Sight of Land" (2007, Tuition Music), joined by a largely Berlin-based group of friends and guest musicians.
