On December 6, 2006, during the 2nd ceremonial session of the 5th term Krakow City Council, Prof. Jacek Majchrowski was solemnly sworn as the President of the City of Krakow.
The President took the oath - "Taking this Office of the City President, I do solemnly swear that I will remain faithful to the law, and will hold the Office entrusted to me solely for the public good and prosperity of the city inhabitants".
President Jacek Majchrowski received from the Chairman of the City Election Committee in Krakow, Tomasz Szymański, a document confirming his election for President of the City of Krakow.
Chairman of the Krakow City Council, Paweł Klimowicz, handed the President a key to the city gates.
Prof. Jacek Majchrowski is holding the office of the President of the City of Krakow for the second time.
The first President of our City in history who had been directly elected by the inhabitants of Krakow was sworn on November 19, 2002, during the inauguration Session of the 4th term Krakow City Council.
The President wields the executive power single-handed, implementing the resolutions of the Council and running the day-to-day matters of the municipality. He carries out his tasks with the aid of Deputy Presidents and plenipotentiaries elected by the President.
